A few weeks ago the McGregor-Smith Review, an independent report commissioned by the UK Government, called on employers to remove the barriers that are preventing people from black and ethnic minority backgrounds from progressing in the workplace.
With new gender pay gap reporting obligations set to come into force next month, employers are turning their attention to how they will comply with the new regime. From 2017 and each subsequent year, an employing entity with 250 or more employees as at 5 April must publish certain statistics relating to bonus pay and hourly pay, to highlight any gender pay gap in relation to its employees. Slightly different rules apply to public sector employers, where the relevant date is 31 March.
Union GMB has announced it will start legal action on behalf of members working as couriers for delivery company, DX. The union says that legal action will be taken with the aim of securing rights on pay, holidays, health and safety, discipline and grievances, on behalf of members who work as couriers and drivers for DX.
